86259, outward leg of The Cumbrian Coast Express, 06.48 London Euston-Carlisle (1Z86, 11E), site of Roade station
With the 4L97 Freightliner safely out of the way at
Roade 86259 'Peter Pan/Les Ross' passes at speed heading north leading the 1Z86 Cumbrian Coast Express. I love the lighting in this photograph with the rising sun just glinting on the side of the train with the September morning mists still hanging about in the distance. On arrival at Carlisle, the train would be steam hauled around the delightful and dramatic Cumbrian Coast route by 45690 'Leander' as far as Carnforth where 86259 would take the train back to Euston.
