Another movement of redundant HHA coal hoppers passes through Roade led by Freightliner's 66416. Since the decline of coal movements, hundreds of the newer HHA and their older HTA versions are sitting idle in various sidings throughout the country. Like these examples, many are heavily graffitied and crying out for some sort of re-use. The 4G97 has brought a small number down from Crewe Basford Hall to Wolverton Works however I am unsure as to why these ones have moved south. There was a report of a Class 197 heading to Chester a couple of days after this one and that pairs of HHAs were used as barriers. Others are converted for aggregate use which involves them being cut in half and shortened to reduce their capacity as aggregates weigh more than coal meaning that they would not exceed their design axle weight.
