Rauceby signal box (GN, 1880)
According to The Signal Box website (https://signalbox.org/section-c/alterations-2021/) plans to abolish Ruceby and Ancaster signal boxes and to automate the remaining manual level crossing have 'not progressed' with 'no immediate plans to abolish these boxes now'. So until the plans are resurrected we can enjoy the delights of some mechanical absolute block signalling and the delightful scene of a signalman descending the box steps to close and open the wooden crossing gates. The superb Great Northern box dating from 1880 is always a tricky one to get a decent photograph of hence this reverse image!
