Postland station (Closed 11.09.61) Portland station closed to passengers on 11.09.61 with the tracks between the platforms becoming disused in 1982 when the former GN & GE Joint line between March and Spalding was shut by BR with them sighting worn out infrastructure and having no money to reinvest in the line as the reasons for closure. Thankfully, the station is still extant and in use as a private residence complete with the up platform in place. I stood on the down platform to the left of this view back in 1981 facing the opposite way to capture the superb Great Eastern box and manual crossing gates. Keywords: Postland station
