Former Horsemoor signal box, at Murrow West (GE, 1899)
I last photographed this signal box at its original location to the East of March where the B1099 crosses the Ely line back in the summer of 1981, see...... https://www.ontheupfast.com/p/21936chg/30046908461/horsemoor-signal-box-great-eastern. Horsemoor box is a Great Eastern Type 7 design dating from 1899 distinguished by the roofed landing and the single horizontal crossbar glazing to the front windows. It was closed in the autumn of 1988 and was bought and moved to this site in a reclaim yard at Murrow West situated now on the Peterborough side of the M & GN line that crossed the GN & GR Joint line just behind where I am standing. On balance, the large Peterborough North enamel attached to the front is probably the original sign from that box that was closed in 1972. However, I have struggled to find any contemporary photographs of that box sporting the sign so its providence cannot be assured.
