My first view of an AT300 class 805 unit! I had missed several chances to photograph the testing of these trains so was pleased when a southbound example passed us whilst we were waiting to pass from the up slow to the up fast at Ledburn Junction just south of Leighton Buzzard. On arrival at Euston, I left my wife for a few minutes and went in search of it finding it at the extreme west of the station on platform sixteen. It was ready to work back north as the 5Q38 12.19 Euston to Crewe but was in fact only going as far as Stafford. The four-car units were supposed to have been in service nearly a year ago but the usual delays (COVID was heavily blamed as it has been for so many things!) have held things up. Notice the Voyager, 221108, that will be replaced by the AT300 waiting in the background. Interestingly, the lady standing to the left commented to me how much better these are when compared to the Voyagers but there are over twenty years between them I suppose!
