Immediately on arrival at Weston-super-Mare Andy and I alighted from the comfort of a Castle set HST, crossed the footbridge and climbed aboard a GWR IET; the contrast was noticeable. We had intended to travel aboard the 13.26 from Weston to Paddington service as far as Bath. However, on arrival at Bristol, where 800318 is pictured here, something went wrong and the train was held with very little information given apart from an announcement that we would be on our way soon which did not happen. After ten minutes we decided to cut our losses, alight and cross to the adjacent platform to take a turbo unit to Bath; unfortunately, so did many other customers!
