The leading power car of the 06.06 Edinburgh Waverley to
Plymouth service stands in the rain at Bristol Temple Meads. 43239 is a former LNER East Coast power car originally numbered E43039 that started its operational life back in 1977. It now has a few weeks left in operation with CrossCountry who will be withdrawing their HSTs at the end of the summer returning them to Angel Trains who will probably scrap them; an ignominious end for an icon of the railways!
