Having brought Andy and me down from Birmingham the 1V44 06.12 Leeds to Plymouth worked by 43285 and 43301 leaves Bristol Temple Meads. The train is passing under Bath Road bridge which gave its name to the once-busy diesel depot. The brightly painted houses on the skyline are in the area of Totterdown. This was once a grim and run-down part of Bristol but has, in more recent years, acquired a more chic and up-coming reputation to the point of being named 'fifth hippest place to live in the UK' by the Times newspaper in 2016.
