No. 4, 12.00 Pitsford return 'Mince Pie Special', Pitsford sidings
After a number of years with no serviceable steam traction the Northampton and Lamport Railway is finally able to offer the visitors to a heritage line what they really are coming for! Hawthorne Leslie 0-4-0ST No. 3718 now running simply as No. 4 passes Pitsford sidings with the 12.00 return service from Pitsford and Brampton. This locomotive dates from 1928 being originally built for the Associated Portland Cement Company (APC) of Swanscombe, Kent where, after retirement in the early 1970s, it was moved around various heritage lines ending up at Barrow Hill where it underwent restoration. It arrived on the NLR in 2020 having been in operation at the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre for a number of years. It is really good that steam is in operation on this line again and that it will hopefully bring the punters in with their money!
