It seems a shame that there needs to be huge bursts of activity when the railways are closed to undertake clearance of the chronically overgrown embankments; regular maintenance would surely be a better way of doing this? The scene in Roade cutting shows the result of clearance over the Christmas period on the western side of the cutting that brought an army of orange-clad contractors to the village wielding their chainsaws!
