The upper quadrant is attached to a nice latticed post that is typical of the L&SWR. Also attached to the post is a shunting disc signal. The marvellous mechanical infrastructure was about to be swept away with just nine days before the Salisbury area's colour lights and panel (inside a small 'box' on the station's platform two) were to begin operations.
