Salisbury Tunnel Junction signal box (LSW, c.1870) I managed to blag access to Salisbury Tunnel Junction signal box and then got permission to venture trackside to take this photograph still wearing my orange BR issue tabard that I was given at Salisbury station earlier in the morning. The box was a small but functional London and South Western structure dating from circa 1870. In common with many of the L&SW boxes of this era, it was entirely brick built with a hipped roof and noticeably fewer windows than might be expected. However, Tunnel Junction does have windows on both sides to facilitate sighting of both lines that it controlled being situated in the V of the junction.
