The heritage of this sack barrow stored under Gillingham's (Dorset) footbridge is of questionable history. While being at Gillingham it firmly places it in L&SW/Southern territory the fact that one of the sign writing indicates Yeovil Town suggests that it may be of GWR heritage. However, to throw further doubt the other writing on the barrow says Yeovil Junction so it is back to the Southern. Either way, it was interesting to find this item and I wonder where it ended up? Yeovil Town station was one of three stations in the Somerset town that once existed and was closed in 1964, two still remain, Pen Mill and Junction.
