I deliberately chose to frame the photograph with the train slightly off-centre so as to include the rather nice tree with its leaves still in full colour to the left that just so happened to be against the lighter portion of an otherwise dark and ominous looking sky. 90012 'Wolf of Badenoch' is seen propelling the rear of the 1Z96 16.02 Manchester to Euston LSL relief service. This was a Sunday evening and was the final few hours (until 06.30 the next morning) of the Queen's lying in state in Westminster Hall. The train may well have been carrying mourners eager to join the huge overnight queue as some of the last to file past. The return service in the early evening will probably have been carrying mourners home and away from London having paid their respects.
