86259 'Les Ross/Peter Pan' passes through Wolverton station leading the outward leg of The Cumbrian Mountain Express. It was to lead the train that, in a break from tradition, was running as 1C96 rather than its more usual 1Z86, as far Carnforth where 46115 'Scots Guardsman' would take over. However, something went wrong with the train leaving some forty-three minutes late. I am not sure if this was a problem with the Royal Scot - advice anybody? Usually, the regular passage of 86259 on a Cumbrian Mountain/Coast Express attracts little interest from enthusiasts but on this occasion, there were a number of photographers on Wolverton station eager to capture the scene.
