45149, stabled, Toddington Yard Sitting in the spring sunshine at the end of Toddington's yard 45149 awaits its next turn. The ETH Class 45 was one of the final few to be withdrawn in the autumn of 1987 after receiving its unofficial name of 'Phaeton' that it only wore for some three weeks! Following a failed traction motor it was withdrawn and languished at Cricklewood shed for some years before passing from pillar to post with every intention of some sort of restoration taking place but nothing actually happening! Finally, the much-needed rebuild commenced in 1997, a process that would take over ten years to complete! It is now a regular performer on the preserved line.
