The tickets for my journey from Frome to Northampton were

split just two ways with a total fare of £33 with the Frome to Westbury leg costing £3.90 working out at 71p per mile. The rest of the journey cost a far more reasonable 18p per mile even less when including the short transfer from Paddington to Euston Square via TfL. It must be noted that the tickets were not checked at any time until approaching Milton Keynes and then again to get through the gates at Northampton so full marks to London Northwestern and a poor show from Great Western Railway.
