 With various advertising hoardings in the background, a Kensington Olympia shuttle service waits to leave Earl's Court station. Carrying the number 23514 and with its distinctive windows indicates that it is an R Stock train now some thirty years old. The first sets of this venerable London Underground stock had been withdrawn when this photograph was taken in 1981 a process that was completed by 1983 with the D78 stock largely replacing them.
