4930, return leg of The Welsh Marches Express, 15.35 Newport-Shrewsbury, Caerleon ST330923
In quite a contrast to photographs taken earlier in the
day 4930 'Hagley Hall' makes a fine sight in the early spring sunshine as it heads north with the returning Welsh Marches Express charter. The train had left Newport a little earlier at 15.35 and was heading back to Crewe with the steam coming off at Hereford in favour of a diesel for the remaining eighty four miles. It is seen passing the small village of Ponthir near Caerleon. The milepost will be indicating thirty-eight miles to Hereford.
