Making a fine display of exhaust 6000 'King George V' leads the southbound Welsh Marches Express on the approach to Church Stretton. The charter, one of a number on this line throughout 1981 and 1982, started from Crewe being diesel hauled with the King taking over at Shrewsbury. At this stage in the day, the weather was pretty awful with rain and heavy cloud making film photography a little tricky witnessed by the slight motion blur in this image.
