As 53809 arrives tender first at Weybourne station the driver and the signalman exchange their tokens in a practice perfect manner! The S & D 7F is working the 10.45 Holt to Sheringham service with the balancing service worked by a Class 101 DMU out of sight on the other platform. Interestingly, a number of these sturdy and robust locomotives were actually designed to run tender first for many of their journeys when in service from new on the Somerset and Dorset line as they were too long for the railway's turntables until the railway acted on this. I can imagine that running from Bath to Bournemouth back in the 1920s tender first was not a pleasant experience for the driver and fireman especially during inclement weather!
