Arley signal box is a reproduction of the original structure located on the same spot that was closed in the summer of 1964. Ironically, the volunteers of the fledgling SVR demolished the old box during the early years of the railway's operations as they thought it unlikely that the tracks would ever be extended south from Hampton Loade! The superstructure of the box is from Yorton on the Crewe to Shrewsbury line whilst the internals came from a number of boxes including the long-closed Kidderminster Station and Severn Beach boxes. Along with Hampton Loade, Arley can be switched out when traffic on the line is light, definitely not the case on a day like today with an intensive gala timetable in operation!
