Greatham signal box (NE, 1899) Greatham is a small village located midway between Hartlepool and Billingham. The signal box is located at the end of a long lane from the village that led to the now-closed Cerebos (later owned by Sharwoods of curry fame) salt factory. Consequently, the level crossing now sees very little traffic. The box is a classic NER box with its characteristic hipped roof dating from 1899.
