frame NER 1872 signal box. It is working the 07.08 Glasgow Central to Newcastle service, a joint operation between ScotRail and Northern. The train will have taken the Glasgow and South Western Railway route from Glasgow via Kilmarnock and Dumfries to Carlisle and thence along the Tyne Valley route to here on the western outskirts of its destination. Just behind the trees in the background to the right of this photograph is the River Tyne.
