66708 'Jayne' leads the 4M18 03.10 Felixstowe North to Trafford

Park service past the site of Roade's former station on this bright August morning despite the cloud already beginning to fill the sky. The land to the left of this photograph was once filled with numerous sidings most of which served the large adjacent Pianoforte factory site that, despite its name, between 1939 and 1945 produced large amounts of munitions for the war effort reverting back to the production of car parts until closure came in 2008. The factory site is now covered by a large new housing estate.
