signal box that controls it to the immediate left. Behind me lies the five miles or so of double track to Lichfield Trent Valley, a section of track only frequented by a few daily freight workings. The double-track becomes just a single just beyond the box with that joining the Midland Birmingham to Derby route just around the curve in the distance at Wichnor Junction. Unlike Lichfield Trent Valley signal box that I saw a little earlier in the afternoon, it looks as though Alrewas box needs a visit from the maintenance team!
