The closure of the level crossing a Joan Croft Junction in 2014 necessitated the construction of a large overbridge for the little traffic using the minor road linking the tiny village of Thorpe in Balne with the busy A19. Whilst the bridge is certainly not an attractive affair being built to Network Rail's latest standards its approach embankments do offer some superb views of the ECML. Taken from the east side of the bridge 801024 heads south with the 11.01 Edinburgh to King's Cross 1E12 LNER service. Just visible above the fourth carriage of the train to the left of the vast pylon is the steeple of the former All Saints Church in the tiny hamlet of Haywood. It is now a private residence very close to the ECML but what a place to live, see......
