The rear of Maltby Colliery South signal box is seen from the nearby road. Built by the Great Central in 1912 the box is a remarkable survivor given that the line it is located on sees very little traffic now that all coal operations have ceased. However, the tokenless block (TB) section could see an increase in traffic as there are new freight flows planned associated with the nearby Doncaster iport terminal.
