We travelled from Wellingborough to Nottingham aboard one of EMR's newly acquired Class 180s. These units, dating from the early 2000s, are a member of the Coradia family of DMUs and have been the hot potatoes of the TOCs that have been involved with their operation! Never the most reliable of units they have been through the hands of many operators never being used for very long and the same is still true today. In its latest guise 180109 now wears its smart-looking EMR livery as it stands at Nottingham station. We had just arrived on this train having joined it at Wellingborough working the 07.35 St. Pancras to Nottingham service. With the new-build bi-modes well underway the use of the 180s is going to be short-lived so one can only wonder where they will go next if anywhere?
