Ashton Roade bridge just south of Roade has been closed

for over a month now affording access to the contractors (Amco Giffen) to reinforce the embankments to the north side of the bridge. With the closure due to expire next Sunday (a week's time) I am not sure if the work will be completed. In this view looking towards Roade, with one of its two water towers dominating the scene, the temporary access road that has been constructed can clearly be seen. With a week left of the closure, I thought that a team may well have been at work today on what was, after all, a quiet Sunday with very little railway traffic given the COVID emergency timetable in operation.
