Hythe station, in the eastern suburbs of Colchester, was opened in 1847 by the Colchester, Stour Valley, Sudbury & Halstead Railway, then to become part of the Eastern Union Railway. The station underwent a complete rebuild during 2008 and 2009 when it was comprehensively reconstructed with much-extended platforms to accommodate morning and evening commuter trains to and from London. A substantial car park was also constructed with modern facilities also installed. 360108 arrives with the 12.05 Clacton to Liverpool street 1N37 service.
