Thorpe-le-Soken signal box (GE, 1822), closed, used as NR office
The former Great Eastern Railway signal box located on Thorpe-le-Soken's
island platform looks remarkably original given that it ceased to operate as a box in 2009. It is now used by Network Rail as a mess room performing no signalling duties. I hope the NR continue to maintain the structure in the correct manner as it is a fine example of a GE Type 2 box despite its rather poor 1937 crude extension over the flat-roofed building.
