86259, outward leg of The Winter Cumbrian Mountain Express, 07.08 London Euston-Carlisle (1Z86), Milton crossing
86259 'Les Ross' (on this side at least!) makes a
fine sight as it sweeps around the curve at Milton crossing having just emerged from the relative darkness of Roade cutting. It is leading the outward leg of The Winter Cumbrian Mountain Express that left Euston at 07.08 for Carlisle with the ac electric coming off the train at Carnforth in favour of 45699 'Galatea'. The former LMS Jubilee would then take the train over Shap to Carlisle and southwards over the Settle and Carlisle to Farington Junction where the ac would bring the train back in the evening passing this spot again at 21.15.
