On arrival at a cold, a wild New Holland Pier

was like going back to another age! The station, some distance from the shore on the wooden pier, was festooned with blue (British Railways Eastern Region) enamels and items even older than that. The whole atmosphere was enhanced by the darkness and the snow that was now falling quite heavily. Notice the DMU just putting in an appearance to the far left.
