NER cast sign, Bog Hall
NER cast sign, Bog Hall
There was, and still is for that matter, a foot crossing over the railway just south-west of Whitby station at the delightfully named Bog Hall, or Boghall in local parlance. The crossing now leads over to a vast car park and riverside frontage with many pleasure boats moored up. However, this cast sign of North Eastern Railway heritage is long gone with just a standard red and white do not trespass on the railway notice installed. I really hope that when the sign was removed it was not merely skipped and broken up with a hammer rather that it lives on today in somebody's back garden.
