What a smashing sight! Evoking memories of the late 1980s and early 1990s 90001 'Royal Scot' leads a train past Wilson's Crossing near Northampton in its authentic InterCity swallow livery. Now operated by Locomotives Services Limited (LSL) from their Crewe facility the 90 was leading the returning stock from a four-day railtour around Scotland. Leaving Euston at 13.11 and running as 5Z56 it arrived back at Crewe well ahead of schedule. At the rear of the train is 40145 that was also used on the railtour and led the train up the WCML on the previous Friday taking the stock to London. Unfortunately, I was not able to witness that particular event as I was in Nottingham on that day!
