A rather crude attempt to rebrand an HST! 43295 stands at the rear of the 10.29 Sheffield to St. Pancras East Midlands Railway service at Derby station. The former LNER branding on top of the Virgin East Coast paint job has been covered with a vinyl with EMR's rather bland logo. Quite why they could not have got the vinyl a better match with the VTEC red is a surprise. However, little effort and expense are being thrown at these ageing power cars that are very much in their final year or so of operation with withdrawal and disposal staring them in the face. Ex 43095 was introduced as part of East Coast set 254020 in September 1978 and had until a few months ago spent its entire life thrashing up and down variously between Inverness/Aberdeen and King's Cross.
