With the down main starter pulled off 47010 gets away from Newton Abbot with the 1V89 12.23 Manchester to Paignton service, now just a short distance from its destination. A silver roofed Class 47 was always good to see announcing the fact that it was based at Stratford which undertook this unofficial modification to all of its allocated examples. For all of its life, 47010 (later to be named 'Xancidae') was an Eastern Region locomotive eventually being withdrawn in January 1993 and cut up at Booths during December of the same year.
