Whilst waiting at York station for our return charter to arrive 55016 'Gordon Highlander' arrived with the terminating 1L43 14.05 from King's Cross. In their latter years of operation, the Deltics handled most of these semi-fast services, something they did with relative ease due to their immense power. The Class 47s could not always maintain the timings of these fast stopping express services that were required to get away from a station and up to line speed very rapidly. A Class 47 can be seen making its way light engine into the station to the right.
