55008 'The Fife & Forfar Yeomanry' leading the 09.50 Edinburgh to Plymouth 1V93 has come to a halt at York station. Its relief locomotive is already on the centre road in the form of 47478 that would work the train through to its Devon destination once the Deltic has been hastily removed. Notice the well-loaded mail van behind the loco with sacks stacked high against the window. At this time 47478 was a West Country locomotive, as it was for most of its working life, being based at Laira.
