Our train has now re-joined the mainline from Wakefield to Burton Salmon Junction at Goose Hill Junction. The box is a Midland Type 2a structure dating from 1891 and in this image it is still wearing its Midland Railway Company wooden nameboard. The box survived until October 1988 with control moving to Wakefield. Up until recently, photographs reveal the base of the box still extant but I did not investigate this during my last visit to the area in February 2018 in the midst of the 'Beast from the East' weather event!
