Royston Junction signal box (Mid, date 1901)
Royston Junction signal box (Mid, date 1901)
Having passed Royston Junction signal box I have turned my camera south to capture the Midland Type 3b structure. The box controlled the junction with the Midland route to Crigglestone and beyond. The abutment of the bridge that carried the Great Central line over the Midland can just be seen to the left of the trees towards the back of the train. Notice the jaunty angle of the stovepipe emerging from the roof of the box. Photographs of the box taken soon after this one show this removed. It looks like this work was somewhat overdue!
