The low winter sun has really caught the exhaust of 61306 'Mayflower' as it approaches Roade on the down slow line leading the outward leg of The Cathedral's Express charter. The Steam Dreams operated excursion left Euston running as 1Z89 and was heading for Chester so its passengers could enjoy the city's Christmas market. 61306 was substituting for 70000 'Britannia' that was unavailable but being fresh from a comprehensive overhaul, personally I think that 'Mayflower' was the better of the two! Out of sight on the rear of the train was 47746 'Chris Fudge' This was one of those days when everything went to plan with the outward and return workings arriving bang on time.
