 With the up and down fast lines still closed for maintenance during the emergency COVID-19 timetable, 350126 and 350240 work through Roade cutting with the 11.15 Northampton to Euston. I know that the fabled 'orange army' are often heralded as the heroes of the railway keeping it running but I have to say I think that their productivity is highly questionable. I stood on the bridge for about fifteen minutes and observed no work taking place except for one worker sporadically using his chainsaw. The rest spent the whole time as seen here doing nothing. Are we really getting the best value from the very expensive contracts being awarded to teams such as this to clear vegetation from the sides of the cutting?
