66755, 09.56 Bescot-London Euston via Bedford St. John`s & St. Albans Abbey (0L66, 90E), site of Roade station
Named after the freight champion and former chairman of the
Rail Freight Group (RFG) 66755 'Tony Berkeley OBE RFG Chairman 1997-2018' passes light engine past the site of Roade station. It was running as the 09.56 Bescot to Euston route learner that was making this trip via a run down the presently closed Marston Vale line to Bedford St. Johns and then a quick dash up the branch to St. Albans Abbey. Quite why a route learner was permitted to operate in these two-metre distancing times I am not sure? The locomotive ran as planned to Bedford but missed out the St. Albans Abbey leg arriving a hefty ninety minutes early at Euston.
