This signal box proved to be very awkward to get to and even then I only managed this rather distant photograph. Hilton Junction signal box is reputedly Scotland's oldest box still in use dating from 1873 and is of a classic Caledonian Railway design. Unfortunately, the rare gantry supported on the retaining walls of the cutting that supports junction signals HJ6 and HJ3 is in total shade. The former signal routes trains towards Ladybank and the latter towards Dunblane and Stirling.
