Hilton Junction signal box (Caledonian, 1873) This signal box proved to be very awkward to get to and even then I only managed this rather distant photograph. Hilton Junction signal box is reputedly Scotland's oldest box still in use dating from 1873 and is of a classic Caledonian Railway design. Unfortunately, the rare gantry supported on the retaining walls of the cutting that supports junction signals HJ6 and HJ3 is in total shade.
