The railways around Perth station have always been complicated and a bit of a signalman's nightmare! In 1962, British Railways completed a pretty comprehensive re-signalling of the whole area. They built the Perth power signal box on the site of the former south shed and abolished no less than seven mechanical boxes within the station area. The power box still operates today but a further re-signalling of the wider area is on the cards so this structure is now operating on limited time.
