The fine and now rare 1877 Type 1 Caledonian signal box at Erol basks in the early morning summer sun. Whilst the ugly extension to the rear of the box spoils the proportions of somewhat it still retains a slate roof and timber barge boarding. The box is a B listed structure by Historic Environment Scotland.
