Having taken 483008 from Ryde St. John's Road we are about to take it back again from Shanklin making our only end to end trip of the line to Ryde Pier Head. Introduced to service on London Underground in February 1940, the unit is approaching the end of its life due to the imminent replacement by D78 stock dating from the 1970s in the coming months. The 483s may well be by far the oldest service trains on the network but, in all honesty, they have had their time!
